Climate Change has so many effects on the world, including Canada. Below are the categories that will be affected by Cimate Change.
HUMAN
PHYSICAL
LOCAL
NATIONAL
Cause of Climate Change naturally: Climate is influenced by natural changes that affect how much solar energy reaches Earth. Two changes include the Earth’s orbit, and the Sun.
Effects of Climate change:
-
Changes in precipitation: mostly increasing
-
Increased temperature
-
Melting Icecaps
-
Rising Sea levels
-
Heat waves
-
Intense storms
-
Droughts
-
Forest Fires: Increased evaporation will also increase the number of forest fires.
-
Water supply
One of the biggest impacts will be on Canada's forests. As temperatures rise, the weather patterns and the availability of water also change, which alters the ability of trees to survive. This is also a chain affect. The biodiversity that lives in the forests will be harmed and possibly, extinction could occur. Natural niches could die. Then, infestation can occur, killing the forests.
Cause of Climate Change by humans: Climate change is affected by the burning of fossil fuels and the conversion of land for forestry and agriculture. Since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, these human influences on the climate system have increased substantially. The overall effect of human activities has been a warming effect, mostly because of emissions of greenhouse gases.
Effects of Climate Change:
-
Diseases such as Malaria and Lyme disease can spread easily.
-
Illness related to extreme cold and heat events
-
Increased occupational health risks
-
Injuries and illnesses
-
Population displacement
-
Increased exposure to outdoor and indoor air pollutants and allergens
-
Respiratory diseases
-
Heart attacks, strokes and other cardiovascular diseases
-
Skin Cancer
-
Disturbed immune function
-
Air Qualtiy is very poor

Disadvantages:
-
Warmer winters may result in less low- elevation snowfall, lower snowpacks, and earlier snowmelt, which may mean reduced skiing seasons.
-
Recharge rates for groundwater sources could change.
-
Severe rain events may cause flooding.
-
Warmer winters may mean reduced snow removal. This could harm snow plowing companies.
-
People with sensitivity to heat may find it hard to cope with increasing temperatures in the summer.
-
Smoke from wild fires may reduce the air quality
However, there are some advantages of climate change.
Advantages:
-
Warmer temperatures may improve the potential for some high-value crops.
-
Warmer temperatures may mean a longer growing season.
This could help farmers, and other agriculture. However, adapting to new climates is hard, especially to grow different foods for different seasons.
The impacts of Climate Change will be felt all around Canada. The impacts would be almost the same as the local impacts. Forests could die due to fires, certain companies (ie.snow plowing) may not be successful.
The economic losses will cost Canada millions of dollars. This is because of the increased maintenence and protection costs of the infastucture and bulidings, and the total loss and replacement fees.
